Stephen Hawking, Uta Pippig: Modern Day Heroes

Recently, the world lost one of its most prolific and effective communicators. #StephenHawking died on March 14, 2018.  Most of our memories of him are of him in his wheel chair speaking with the aid of computers. His inability to move physically did not deter or diminish the value and insightfulness of his messages. His courage and confidence, despite these physical challenges is an inspiration to all of us.

In similar fashion we remember @UtaPippig, the Olympic athlete who won the Berlin Marathon three times, the New York Marathon and then that unforgettable record of being the first woman to ever win the Boston Marathon three times. When we think of her incredible accomplishments we can certainly recall that win in 1995 when she crossed the finish line in first place while blood and feces were running down her legs.  Her courage and confidence helped her to win the Boston Marathon despite her challenges.

These inspirational heroes did not allow personal or professional challenges to stop their success.  In the process , when each of us is faced with personal or professional challenges, we need only repeat….”if Uta can do it - if Stephen can do it….I can do it.”
